Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Uzbekistan marks an important milestone in the growing relationship between India and Uzbekistan. PM Modi and President Mirziyoyev also discussed ways to further increase economic engagement and create new opportunities for businesses and investors from both countries. Greater connectivity between India and Central Asia, along with cooperation in emerging technologies and digital infrastructure, was also an important part of the discussions.
The leaders exchanged views on regional and international developments and emphasised the importance of peace, stability, sovereignty and cooperation in the region. India and Uzbekistan share longstanding historical and cultural connections, and both sides continue to work towards strengthening these ties through education, tourism, cultural exchanges and closer contacts between their people.
PM Modi’s visit also highlights India’s growing engagement with the Central Asian region and its commitment to building stronger partnerships with countries in the region. Uzbekistan remains an important partner for India in Central Asia, with cooperation expanding steadily across political, economic, strategic and cultural areas.
The elevation of bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is expected to provide a stronger framework for future cooperation and open new avenues for collaboration between India and Uzbekistan.
